【Established Date】Tianjin and Nampo of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) signed a letter of intent to establish friendly exchange and cooperation relations on August 11, 2002.

【City Characteristics】Nampo is one of the two Special Cities of the DPRK. Boardering the capital Pyongyang, it is the gateway of the west of Pyongyang to the sea and the largest natural harbor on the west coast of  the DPRK. The economy is mainly based on logistics, processing of supplied materials and ore export industry. In recent years, new industrial parks have been built, and the Nampo Development Zone has been vigorously developed to focus on export processing industry. Nampo is rich in tourism resources. It is home to the famous West Sea Barrage, the Yellow Sea Dam and bathing beaches. There are many sightseeing spots and sports villages such as Waudo and Taeseong Lake, and ancient Goguryeo tombs which are located in many areas.

【Cooperation Fields】Tianjin and Nampo have carried out exchanges and cooperation in economy and trade, ports and personnel exchanges.
