【Established Date】Tianjin and the State of Amazonas, Brazil formally established friendship-city relations on October 20, 1997.

【City Characteristics】Amazonas is located in the north region of Brazil and is the largest state of the country. The capital city is Manaus. Amazonas's economy is primarily driven by rubber, babassu nuts and hardwoods. Its industries mainly include petroleum refining, electronics, electrical appliances, motorcycle, food as well as chemistry. In 1967, with the approval of the federal government, the Manaus Free Trade Zone was established to develop the state economy. Covering an area of over 10,000 square kilometers, the Zone has gathered more than 500 wholly foreign-owned or joint ventures with investors coming from Japan, South Korea and the Netherlands.
