Located in the northern part of Tianjin, Baodi district was established as a county in 1172 AD. Known for its simple and honest folk traditions and rich cultural heritage, it is often referred to as "Wen Baodi", reflecting its cultural significance. Currently, the district is comprised of 24 streets and towns, covers a total area of 1509 square kilometers and has a population of 757,200.
The region features a flat terrain, mild climate, distinct seasons, and a beautiful landscape. It is home to the Chaobai River National Wetland Park, covers a total area of 5581.9 hectares, and boasts a forest coverage rate of 34 percent.
Baodi is recognized as a national-level demonstration area for ecological civilization construction and has been designated by the Ministry of Land and Resources as the "City of Chinese Hot Springs".
The district is renowned for its distinctive agricultural products, such as rice, chili peppers, freshwater fish, and shrimp. Its Baodi Pingju Opera, Jingdong Drumming, and Gourd pyrography are recognized as national intangible cultural heritages.
