Tianjin makes immunization easier for foreign residents
2024-11-14

Tianjin's Immunization Program Information Management System has added the "Foreigner Permanent Resident ID Card" (or "Five-Star Card") to its identification options, allowing foreigners with permanent residency in China to streamline key immunization processes, including ticketing, registration, vaccination and post-vaccination observation.

Yesterday, Nate, a foreign resident in Tianjin, visited the Taihu Road Community Health Center in Hexi district to inquire about the services of flu vaccine using his new Foreigner Permanent Resident ID Card. Health center staff used a card reader to automatically retrieve his records and verify his identity, allowing for quick archival access and easy confirmation of his vaccination history.

"It's incredibly convenient," Nate said, noting that, in the past, receiving a vaccination required multiple document checks and questions about prior records, but now, with the Five-Star Card, all relevant information is available instantly.

A representative from Exit-Entry Administration of Tianjin Municipal Public Security Bureau said that this initiative, launched by the municipal health and disease control departments, aims to make healthcare services more accessible for international residents, while further showcasing the efficiency of China's healthcare infrastructure.

This addition to the system enables more foreign residents to navigate health services smoothly, providing a welcoming experience to those who now call Tianjin home.
