A pilot program to introduce full-process online services for renewing or reissuing immigration documents is set to operate in 20 cities in China -- Beijing, Tianjin, Shenyang, Harbin, Shanghai, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Ningbo, Hefei, Xiamen, Jinan, Qingdao, Zhengzhou, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Chongqing, Chengdu, Kunming and Xi'an.
Residents aged 16 and above with registered permanent residence to these cities (excluding state functionaries and military personnel on active service) can now apply for the renewing or reissuing of ordinary passports, or permits for travel to and from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan through the National Immigration Administration online service platform, without the need to physically visit the office.
The entry-exit administrative departments of the public security organ at the place of household registration will, within seven working days, review the application and issue the certificates to those who meet the application conditions, have complete application materials and meet the statutory requirements.
