Tianjin's favorable business environment and strong commitment to opening up are giving British companies greater confidence to deepen their presence in the city, according to Peter Wilson, British ambassador to China.

Speaking in Tianjin on Sept 17, Wilson said the city has long served as a gateway to the world, with a globally connected port and significant development potential. He noted that Tianjin's development priorities align closely with the United Kingdom's strengths in areas including maritime services, finance, higher education and urban renewal.

He also praised Tianjin's efficient government services and efforts to improve the business environment, saying the city is actively connecting with international resources and supporting foreign-invested companies.

Several cooperation projects highlight the growing ties between Tianjin and the UK. Haleon, a global consumer healthcare company, has established operations in Tianjin, while Heng An Standard Life has continued to explore opportunities in the city's pension and insurance market. Nankai University and the University of Glasgow are also deepening cooperation in education and research.

In the aviation sector, the Airbus Tianjin assembly line serves as a major example of China-Europe industrial cooperation, with UK facilities supplying key components for Airbus aircraft.

Wilson expressed hopes for closer cooperation in trade, education, aviation, and green development, unlocking new opportunities for mutually beneficial growth.
