A shipment of lubricants arrived at Tianjin Port by sea on July 21 and quickly completed customs transit procedures before being loaded onto a scheduled freight train bound for Horgos, one of China's major rail gateways to Central Asia and Europe.

Tianjin Port currently operates multiple China-Europe and China-Central Asia freight train routes via Erenhot, Alashankou and Horgos, connecting major destinations across Eurasia. To support the growing network, Tianjin Customs has continued to optimize supervision procedures and improve customs services, helping ensure efficient and reliable rail operations.

Logistics companies say the expanding network offers greater flexibility than in previous years. With more scheduled routes and multimodal transport options, including sea-rail and sea-sea connections, businesses can choose more efficient shipping solutions based on cargo type and destination.

To further improve efficiency, Tianjin Customs has established a coordination mechanism involving customs, the port, railway operators, and logistics companies. It also provides 24/7 appointment-based customs clearance and a dedicated green channel for China-Europe and China-Central Asia freight trains, enabling faster processing of cargo.

In the first half of 2026, Tianjin Customs supervised 394 China-Europe and China-Central Asia freight trains, handling 42,464 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), up 7.9 percent and 8.0 percent year-on-year, respectively.
