Uzbek official highlights role of technology in tourism innovation

The 2026 World Intelligence Expo opened in Tianjin on May 28, bringing together more than 700 companies and hundreds of industry leaders to explore the latest advances in intelligent technology and discuss the future of smart industries.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Abdulaziz Akkulov, chairman of the Tourism Committee of Uzbekistan, praised the expo as an influential platform for global technological exchange and industrial cooperation.

Akkulov noted how artificial intelligence and digital technologies are rapidly reshaping industries around the world, especially the tourism and cultural sectors, transforming traditional service models in the process.

Driven by the rapid growth of the digital economy, Uzbekistan's tourism industry has continued to expand. He noted that the country is leveraging its strategic location, supportive policies and incentive measures to promote digital transformation and innovation in the tourism sector.

"We will continue to rely on technology to accelerate the digital and intelligent upgrading of the cultural and tourism industries," Akkulov said. He added that Uzbekistan is committed to strengthening international exchanges and deepening cross-border cooperation in tourism, culture, and technological innovation.
