A delegation of Canadian independent media representatives visited Tianjin on Jan 11 and 12 at the invitation of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries.

The delegation toured Skyjack Asia-Pacific (Tianjin) Machinery Co, where members observed automated production lines and product application scenarios, learning about the outcomes of China-Canada industrial cooperation and the efficiency of China's manufacturing sector.

At Tianjin Port's intelligent zero-carbon terminal, they observed highly automated port operations and were impressed by how advanced technology is driving greener, more efficient logistics.

The group also visited the China-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City, where green development is embedded in urban planning and smart public services are in use, including an intelligent book-sorting and return system.

In addition to modern industry and innovation, the delegation explored Tianjin's Ancient Cultural Street, where they experienced traditional crafts such as clay figurines, woodblock printing, and Chinese medicine techniques, and tried their hand at making goubuli steamed buns. Sampling local snacks such as mahua (fried dough twists) and steamed rice cakes with condiments, the visitors gained a taste of the city's everyday life.

Members of the delegation said the visit deepened their understanding of Tianjin's blend of Chinese and Western influences, its achievements in green and technology-driven development, and its livable urban character. Many said they would share videos and stories from the trip on social media to help more international audiences better understand China.
