By the end of November, Tianjin Binhai International Airport had processed more than 1 million inbound and outbound passengers this year, surpassing the total for all of 2024.
The achievement highlights China's expanding inbound tourism and the rising popularity of China travel among international visitors.
The growth is driven by the National Immigration Administration's decision to ease transit visa rules and introduce 10 innovative measures in an effort to support greater openness. These policies have significantly boosted international traffic through Tianjin.
This year alone, the airport's border inspection station has handled over 250,000 foreign travelers, including 80,000 visa-free entrants — nearly eight times last year's figure. Foreign arrivals mainly came for tourism, business, entrepreneurship, family visits, and study.
Meanwhile, enthusiasm for outbound travel among mainland residents remains strong. Tianjin airport has launched direct flights to destinations such as Russia and Thailand, expanding choices for cross-border tourism.
To ensure smooth clearance, the airport's border inspection station has accelerated facilitation measures, strengthened multilingual services, and improved efficiency. These efforts are enhancing the port environment and reinforcing Tianjin's role as a growing hub for international exchange.
