Four students from Tajikistan have recently won a silver medal at the 2024 World Skills Competition in Tianjin, China, excelling in the "urban gas pipeline installation and leak detection" category.
The students are part of the first group of Tajik nationals studying at the Luban Workshop at Tianjin Urban Construction Management & Vocation Technology College, marking a significant milestone in the growing educational collaboration between China and Tajikistan.
This achievement follows a landmark partnership established in late 2023 between Tianjin Urban Construction Management & Vocation Technology College, Tianjin Chengjian University, and Tajik Technical University. The three institutions signed a cooperation agreement to jointly train high-skilled talent, leading to the selection of eight students who came to Tianjin to pursue advanced studies in fields such as urban thermal energy engineering.
Under the expert guidance of their instructors, the students quickly grasped essential skills such as tool usage, circuit construction, and data monitoring. Davlatov Abdulmanon, one of the award-winning students, praised the support from both teachers and Chinese peers, stating, "The teachers are incredibly patient and thorough, and the help from Chinese students has been invaluable."
The silver medal not only reflects the students' technical prowess but also underscores the success of the collaboration between China and Tajikistan. Looking ahead, the partnership continues to expand, with plans to introduce new fields, including new energy vehicles, into the program.
Moreover, a new "3+2" model will allow Tajik students to complete their undergraduate studies in Tajikistan before advancing to Tianjin for further education and practical training.
The growing collaboration at the Luban Workshop is strengthening vocational education ties between the two nations, fostering the development of highly skilled professionals who will contribute to the future development of both China and Tajikistan.
