Tianjin university think-tank plots economic future

On the coast of the Bohai Sea, Tianjin University of Finance and Economics, an institution with a long history, is fostering a dynamic exchange of ideas.

In response to the challenges of the new era, the university has initiated the TUFE Thinktank+ video program, inviting numerous esteemed experts and scholars from fields such as finance, service trade, and technological innovation to share their unique perspectives and profound insights.


They focus on how Tianjin, as an economic hub in northern China, can precisely position its economic development path in the new historical context, witnessing the transformations and developments of this era and jointly writing a new chapter in China's economy.

During the program, Qi Junyan, a professor from the School of Economics, emphasized that trade in services is a vital engine for economic growth. She suggested that Tianjin should take further steps to open up its trade in services to enhance its international competitiveness.

Yu Xuewei, an associate professor from the School of Finance highlighted that technology-driven finance is essential for fostering the development of new productive forces. She asserted that Tianjin must innovate within the financial sector to inject fresh momentum into its economy.

Liu Yubin, professor of the School of Business, proposed that the deep integration of technological and industrial innovation is crucial for enhancing the safety and resilience of industrial supply chains. He argued that strengthening high-level self-reliance in science and technology will provide new impetus for the economic development of both Tianjin and the entire country.

From advancements in science and technology finance to the opening-up of service trade, and subsequently to the integration of scientific, technological, and industrial innovation, Tianjin is progressing in a coordinated manner across multiple sectors, creating a new blueprint for high-quality economic development.

Looking ahead, by focusing on talent development, policy support, and industrial upgrading, the city aims to enhance its urban competitiveness, establish a solid foundation for achieving the objectives of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025) and create favorable conditions for a successful start to the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030).
