Despite Tanzania's abundant water resources, access to clean drinking water has long been a challenge, primarily due to underdeveloped water infrastructure.

There are many villages located far from the city, forcing local residents to rely on rainwater, which has contributed to frequent malaria outbreaks.

Recognizing the problem, the project team from the China-based CCCC Second Highway Engineering Bureau took the initiative to dig a well near the stone quarry at their own expense, providing a reliable source of drinking water for the local community.

Joseph Kahama, secretary general of the Tanzania-China Friendship Association, revealed that Chinese investment in Tanzania reached 76.36 billion yuan ($10.73 billion) last year, creating 141,530 jobs in the East African country.

"These employment opportunities enable people to support their families and fund their children's education, generating significant local economic benefits," Kahama said.

Kahama added that the affordability of Chinese products allowed residents to gain access to mobile phones and computers for the first time.

The growth of Chinese enterprises in Africa relies heavily on the support of African governments and communities, deputy general manager of China’s Norin Mining Co Zhi Yulin said.

Zhi added that Chinese companies must remain committed to fulfilling their social responsibilities on the continent.
