The "New Trends in Old Quarters" campaign began on Friday at Tianjin's Cao Yu Theatre, spotlighting the revitalization of historic districts in Tianjin municipality and Shanxi, Anhui, and Guangdong provinces.

During the four-day event, journalists and influencers will tour Tianjin's iconic landmarks, highlighting the city's unique fusion of history and modernity, cementing its appeal as a cultural and commercial destination.

Xiubu Alley

Nestled in the Hebei district of Tianjin, Xiubu Alley is a vibrant street renowned for its skilled artisans and practical services, serving as a cornerstone of community life in the city.

In 2024, local authorities further enhanced community services, expanding the alley's scope to attract more skilled artisans. This initiative fostered collaboration between craftspeople and businesses, promoting growth and development.

Xiubu Alley offers an impressive range of services, including shoe repairs, locksmiths, tailoring, appliance maintenance, watch and jewelry restoration, leather care and household upkeep. With expertise passed down through generations, the craftsmen have earned widespread acclaim for their quality and reliability.

Italian Style Area

Located along the scenic Haihe River in Tianjin's Hebei district, the Italian Style Area covers an area of 28.45 hectares and is the only fully preserved Italian architectural complex in Asia. With more than 100 historic European buildings showcasing Mediterranean design, the area exudes a sense of grandeur and timeless elegance shaped by more than a century of history.

Currently, the Italian Style Area is undergoing a dynamic transformation, entering its 2.0 era of revitalization and innovation. The district's thriving commercial expansion and reimagined offerings are drawing attention from visitors and locals alike.

Driverless Demonstration Road

Tianjin's Hebei district is spearheading a project to build a "vehicle-road collaboration demonstration route" in a complex urban environment. Integrating advanced technologies with the Huawei Industrial Park, the project covers a 3.1-kilometer stretch encompassing diverse scenarios, including tourist attractions, old residential areas, newly built neighborhoods, riverside roads and intricate traffic conditions.

A key feature of the initiative is a 1.6-kilometer zero-carbon autonomous driving shuttle route connecting major parking lots, metro stations, tourist spots, squares and hotels. This service offers visitors a seamless, eco-friendly travel experience while showcasing cutting-edge technological advances.

The district's autonomous vehicle fleet includes driverless tour shuttles, allowing visitors to explore the iconic Italian Style Area with ease. In addition, autonomous vending vehicles will roam the streets, delivering food and beverages ordered via mobile apps directly to designated locations.
