During the 2026 Spring Festival holiday, Tianjin's cultural and tourism market surged with vibrant activity. The city received 11.7 percent more visitors than the previous year, while total tourism spending rose 12.2 percent. Average per capita spending reached 969.74 yuan ($141.19), up 0.43 percent from last year's holiday.
Tianjin rolled out more than 500 cultural and tourism activities during the holiday. Regional cooperation across the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei cluster stood out, with joint exhibitions, theater performances and themed travel routes boosting corss-city travel.
Traditional customs blended seamlessly with urban flair. Historic areas such as the Ancient Cultural Street and major shopping districts were alive with intangible cultural heritage shows, folk parades and trendy markets. Family-friendly attractions, including lantern fairs, theme parks and temple fairs in revitalized ancient towns, drew large crowds.
Winter experiences also fueled consumption. Upgraded ski resorts in Jizhou district, along with winter sports and hot spring packages, offered all-day leisure options, driving growth in nearby dining and accommodation sectors.
Cultural institutions added depth to the festivities. Museums launched special exhibitions and educational programs, while over 100 performances — from Peking Opera to traditional crosstalk — enriched the holiday experience.
