The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Secretariat, in partnership with the China Institute of International Studies, hosted a roundtable on Sept 12 to assess the outcomes of the SCO Tianjin Summit.

The discussion centered on China's achievements as the rotating chair, particularly the results of the 25th Meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the SCO and the "SCO Plus" Meeting held from Aug 31 to Sept 1.

Experts from prominent Chinese think tanks and universities, such as the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Fudan University, and the Development Research Center of the State Council, participated in the event.

SCO Secretary-General Nurlan Yermekbayev kicked off the session by outlining key proposals from member states and detailing the 24 official documents adopted. He encouraged scholars to provide intellectual support to help convert political consensus into practical cooperation.

Experts emphasized the SCO's stabilizing role amid global uncertainty, advocating for principles of equality, inclusiveness, and non-confrontation. They recommended that the organization to play a greater role in global governance and regional security.

Participants also emphasized the importance of strengthening internal mechanisms and improving operational efficiency across cooperation platforms. All parties agreed to deepen collaboration between think tanks and the SCO Secretariat.
